What area does Great Lakes Energy cover? ›

Great Lakes Energy has nine service districts cover parts of 26 counties in Michigan. Service districts include Petoskey, Boyne City, Waters, Kalkaska, Scottville, Reed City, Hart, Newaygo, and Wayland.

Restored. When the outage has been resolved and service has been restored, you'll receive this message: “The assigned crew has reported that power has been restored. If your location is still without power, please report the outage by replying 'OUT', using the GLE app, your online account, or calling 1-888-485-2573.”

Michigan has the longest shoreline of the United States, bordering roughly 3,288 miles (5,292 km) of lakes, followed by Wisconsin (820 miles (1,320 km)), New York (473 miles (761 km)), and Ohio (312 miles (502 km)).

If you see a downed power line, assume it is energized and stay away. Call 9-1-1 immediately to report its location, and then call PG&E at 1-800-743-5002. Do not touch anyone or anything in contact with a downed power line. Keep children and pets away from fallen electric wires.

Report power outages, water line breaks, wastewater spills and backups, and other electric, water or wastewater problems to 855.528. 4278. Please have your CSU account number ready when you call.

Since we are a cooperative, we do not keep these margins, but rather allocate them back to the members who provide the revenue through the electric rates they paid during the year. Unlike investor-owned utilities, cooperatives do not have shareholder investors/owners. Our members are our investor/owners.

If everyone works together to reduce their usage during peak demand hours — typically from 3-8 p.m. — on these days, it can go a long way to helping to avoid outages for you, your neighbors, or people many miles down the line.

The Great Lakes region of Northern America is a binational Canadian–American region centered around the Great Lakes that includes the U.S. states of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin and the Canadian province of Ontario.
