Anyone know where I can find some good "comic fx" graphics. I managed to snag the one that blambot.com had before it disappeared and I managed to find one on R'osity called "Comic Sound FX pack 1" by Tempus a looooonnnngggg time ago. Those are good, but somewhat lacking in the variety. Anybody got any ideas?

Hey everyone! I just wanted to show off some renders I made using Daz Studio:

    http://highwayhoss.deviantart.com/gallery/43701173

These are pics of my fanmade Starship the USS New Ironsides. I used some of Mattymanx's models plus the Space Sphere for the BG.

The centerpiece is Mattymanx's Poser model of the USS Resurrection. I also added a page with the specs and history. I did make some additions to the model; in addition to the changed textures, I added naviagtion lights. These were created by combining a Point light with a sphere primitive (both shrunk down). The Turret cannons were some Sci FI handguns I modified extensively.

I really like how the pics came out.

    Any comments and critiques welcome.

Coolies. Wanted to make a custom of that ship, too. I was wondering, may I ask if you could make some custom name and numbers, for I lack the software to make them, good ones, anyhow.

Please let me know if this is possible. :D

Are there texture maps for that ship? Do you have somekind of photoshop type program? If you answer yes to both of these questions, then you, too can make new names and registries. :-)

The ship comes with textures, in fact also comes with a set without names and numbers, for customs. All I got is MS paint, this computer's a pile of junk and waiting for a new one to be finished, so I don't have any decent programs, neither do I have decent fonts.

I've tried before with some, but for the size I need to use, it gets pretty smooshed up, and colors separated with the letters/numbers and the outlines don't want to happen, it seems.

    There's another option: actual letters:

    http://mattymanx.deviantart.com/art/Star-Trek-3D-Font-Pack-339642352

Apply the blank textures to your model and then postion the letters where you need them. Might take longer, but they show up good and clear.

Not going to be rude, cast, but stop sounding like one of those whiny-ass fanboys that The Onion made fun of.
It was a fun movie. As someone who was a lapsed Trek fan, who got sick of the constant crap that was Voyager and Enterprise, and the crap CBS/ Paramount allowed to be sold under the Star Trek name, JJ's films have been a shot in the arm of a dying franchise.
It brought in new fans, and made the franchise more accessible to people who didn't want to slog through 40+ years of fanwank / canon to "get it".

The only people bitching about the new movies, are the same idiots with "arrested development" who don't want to share "their precious" with anyone else, and think that they "own" it all.

Are you the same with the whole classic vs. Nu Doctor Who??

Seriously, have you seen the movie yet? If not, then please, in the words of Penn Jillette "shut the **** up!" Unless you have actually seen the movie, you have no right so say jack about if the movie is good or not. It's like me calling all your work utter crap, without looking at it.
Thought I'm sure you must have loved it when Rick Berman and Brannon Braga were driving the franchise into the ground.

This is one reason I quit being a Trek fan, walked away from Who fandom, and disowned Star Wars fandom. The utter stupidity and whingings of self-entitled fanatics, who love nothing more than slagging anything off that doesn't fit into their own fanwank dream notions.
This kind of bitchiness and whiny crap that puts people off getting into things like Trek, Who and Wars. It's tiring.

There is no "classic" vs "NuWho" That I'm aware of. The new series has brought back old viliians and old companions- or has someone missed the episode with Sarah Jane and K-9? It was one of the last things Elizabeth Sladen did before she died.
It's always been a matter of record that everyone has their favorite doctor. For me, that's Tom Baker- because he was the first Doctor I ever saw. But I've seen at least one episode of every doctor over the years and I have no problem with any of them because of the way the series ... I'm going to say "evolved". Rengeneration wasn't an original concept of the series till Mr. Hartnell became too ill to continue in the roll. Then the producers had to come up with some way for the series to continue- some way to introduce a new actor in the roll that would allow him to be accepted- and they found it.
They managed to keep the Doctor's history intact while at the sametime, move him forward into the modern era. Each Doctor is both a Reboot and a continuation. The only successful combination of the two I'm aware of.

I agree there is no classic/ Nu in Doctor Who.

Just that Castallan's little whinge about the relaunch Trek movies, was the type of thing fanboys like him throw out with copious amounts of bile and blind ignorance. They deem themselves the gatekeepers to fandoms, and I'm sure he also enjoys shouting to female geeks that they're attention whor*s and fakers, too.
The typical thing that made me tired of being connected to the fandoms of things I enjoy and love.

I happen to perfer the Orignal Trek myself- and I enclude the early novels in that. But I'll say no more. This is supposed to be a friendly forum. We'll just have to agree to disagree on some things and move on. Okay?

I have seen everything Star Trek since 1967 and can honestly say I cant stand this new movie nor the last one, not due to actors nor plot , but cause the way they where filmed gave me a serious headache, JJ Abrams, I find films all his stuff in a way that causes headaches, at least to me. There are a few things i didnt like in the first one like the silly water/fluid tubes on the Enterprise - that was totally moronic in my opinion.

Thank you. You said it all right there. I should not have to squint when watching stuff, and all that Axis chemicals set.

Plus I am not a fan of reboots whatsoever, that's just being lazy and unoriginal in my opinion (Plus with reboots, the previous 40 years of stuff is going to be thrown out the window, since I HIGHLY doubt we are going to EVER see anything from the original universe ever again, apart from a few cheesy fan wanks like Sulu and his fencing reply, followed by a cheesy grin. And, like someone else said ,Doctor Who is back and it was continuation, and not a remake....that THAT, Hollywood! >:) ), plus I don't like how the characters were done in the first JJ film, and therefore I am not going to bother with this one ,the first one felt "Trek in name only" and all I saw was an action popcorn flick and I fear stories like Devil in the Dark, City on the Edge of Forever, Balance of Power, Where No One Has Gone Before, Home Soil, Where Silence has Lease, Schisms, Masks, etc are going to be a thing of the past, and nothing but explosions and battles, I can watch other stuff like Star Wars, etc for that. So, I am going to take a nap the day the film comes out, instead.
