Saucy apple swirl cake

Yield: 16 servings

Cook Time: 45 minutes

Additional Time: 25 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon
  • 1 package of Pillsbury Plus yellow cake mix
  • 15 ounces of applesauce
  • 3 eggs

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350 (F).
  2. Grease and flour 12-cup fluted tube or a 10-inch tube pan (Bundt pan).
  3. In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon; set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, blend the cake mix, applesauce and eggs until moistened.
  5. Beat 2 minutes at highest speed.
  6. Pour 1/2 of batter into prepared pan.
  7. Sprinkle with sugar mixture.
  8. Cover with remaining batter.
  9. Bake at 350 (F) for 35 to 45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  10. Cool upright in pan 25 minutes; turn onto serving plate.
  11. Cool completely.
  12. If desired, dust with powdered sugar.

Notes

High altitude -- above 3500 feet: Add 3 tablespoons flour to dry cake mix. Bake at 375 (F) for 35 to 40 minutes.
